Indicators of mandibular dental crowding in the mixed dentition.
PURPOSE Dental crowding occurring in the anterior part of the mandible in the early mixed dentition has been a subject of increasing concern for child patients, their parents, and the pediatric dentist. The aim of this study was to evaluate indicators of crowding found at the primary dentition, which may lead to the future manifestation of crowding at the anterior part of the mandibular arch in...
متن کاملA longitudinal study of incremental expansion using a mandibular lip bumper.
A retrospective study using models was performed to evaluate the incremental expansion that occurred during mandibular lip bumper therapy in 44 adolescent patients. The purpose was to determine whether expansion occurs evenly between appointments or whether it attenuates with treatment time. Dental cast measurements were made for arch width and arch length. Treatment duration was broken into ne...

The first attempt at stimulating growth of the mandible in therapy of distal bite Class II/1 was initiated by Kingsley in 1877. The method described as “jumping the bite” is still applied today according to the principle of functional bimaxillary appliances such as for example activator, bionator, function regulator (1-3) and others, whereby the mandible is brought into the anterior position by...

The purpose of this study was to perform a meta-analysis of articles to verify the mandibular changes produced by the Fränkel-2 (FR-2) appliance during the treatment of growing patients with Class II malocclusions when compared with untreated growing Class II subjects. The literature published from January 1966 to January 2009 was reviewed with search engines. A quality analysis was performed. ...
